Editing and changing tracks
Once you got your track or
sound file loaded into the software and displayed on the screen, you can start
editing it (the basic purpose of this software...). Even though editing the
files may seem like a hard thing to do at first, it is actually one of the
easiest functions you can perform, from all the different operations withing
this software. Just follow these simple steps:
- Drag your mouse-cursor over the portion of the track which you would like
changed. You can approximate the time and location withing the track by
looking at the Time Ruler, located just above where the song is
displayed.
- Once the desired area is high-lighted, go to theEffects menu on the
main view-bar. A list of all the possible effects (changes) which you can
apply to your track will be displayed on the pop-up menu.
- Select the effect that you would like to be applied from this menu, and
watch for any changes in the appearance of the track on the display screen.
Usually, there is some change in the wave form, especially if you're applying
strong effects, such as Backwards, or Fade In.
- Re-play your song to see what the change sounds like once it is applied.
If you don't wish to play the whole song, but just a part, highlight the area
which you want to hear, then press "Play" on the Controls menu.
- If you are satisfied with the changes, remember to Save
your track so that you don't lose the data that you've just added on to your
file. If you would like further changes, just repeat the above steps.
- You can also apply effects such as Insert Noise, Insert
Silence or Insert Frequency into your track. You may or may not
find these features useful, depending on the nature of sound editing you want
to do. A thing to remember, though, is that these effects are located in a
different area, under the Insert menu.
